One building destroyed in three-alarm fire at local apartment complex

Roughly 24 firefighters were on scene of a three-alarm fire at the Village at Lionstone Apartments Monday evening.

This was at 235 Lionstone Drive near Platte and Murray in Colorado Springs. Firefighters say the call came in around 5:30 p.m. where a witness reported hearing an explosion in the complex. 

The fire was contained to one building, with heavy smoke was visible in nearby areas. Firefighters were able to contain the fire around 7 p.m.

According to Colorado Springs Fire, three people have been treated for minor injuries. An unknown number of families will be displaced, but will have the assistance of the Red Cross. 

Firefighters are going through the burned out units to check for any people unaccounted for. Crews will remain on scene to mop up any hot spots.

The number of units damaged and the cause of the fire are unknown at this time.
