DENVER -

Denver police are investigating after an apparent accidental shooting at a nightclub.

The incident happened Saturday morning at 12:45 a.m. at a club in the 2200 block of Lawrence Street. Investigators said it appears an off-duty FBI agent was dancing at the club when his firearm dislodged from its waistband holster and fell onto the floor.

When the agent retrieved his handgun it went off, with the bullet hitting another patron in the leg. The victim was taken to the hospital and is expected to recover.

The agent was taken to the Denver Police Department and was later released to a FBI supervisor. Charged have not been filed.

The Denver District Attorney will decide if any charges will be filed.
