Man arrested after biting police officer, harassing others at Territory Days

Posted: Updated:

Colorado Springs police say an officer working security at Territory Days in Old Colorado City this weekend was bitten by a drunk man.

Around 9:30 Saturday night, police received reports of a 'belligerent intoxicated male' harassing people.

When officers found the man, who police say is Robert Martel, he left, but then he came back and got aggressive with the officer.

Police say he refused to comply with the officer's orders.

When the officer tried to arrest Martel, he fought back, and bit the officer's hand twice.

More officers showed up, and Martel spat on another officer.

Martel is in the El Paso County Jail on charges of 2nd Degree Assault on an Officer, Disorderly Conduct, and Obstructing an Officer.

The officers had minor injuries, but didn't need medical attention.
