HomeAdvisor says it helps people find trusted home improvement professionals, but News 5 Investigates found the company is falling short of its promise.
In November 2017, Chief Investigative Reporter Eric Ross questioned HomeAdvisor after its website recommended a Pueblo contractor who is accused of ripping off multiple homeowners.
Now, News 5 Investigates has found even more cases where homeowners say HomeAdvisor recommended "service professionals" who are unlicensed and failed to perform the work they were hired to do.
The San Francisco District Attorney's Office is also suing the Colorado-based company for deceptive television and radio advertisements and licensed contractors have filed a lawsuit of their own, alleging HomeAdvisor sells them "bogus sales leads" that don't result in jobs.
News 5 Investigates has also uncovered an attempt to pay a customer money to remove YouTube videos that question HomeAdvisor's tactics. ?
