Cheyenne Mountain beats Aspen, into lacrosse title game for first time ever

Posted: Updated:

For the first time in school history, Cheyenne Mountain boys lacrosse will play for a state title.

Battling road fatigue from the long bus ride, the Indians beat Aspen 13-5 Wednesday night in the 4A Semifinals.

Cheyenne Mountain will play The Dawson School for the 4A State Title at Mile High Stadium at 5pm, Friday night.

Senior Jack Egan - current News5 Athlete of the Week - led the team scoring with four goals. Junior Wiley Burkett followed with three, James LaCerte and Jack Paul had a pair for the Indians.

Cheyenne Mountain led 9-0 before Aspen registered their first. The Indian defense weathered a four goal 3rd quarter before they shutout Aspen in the 4th quarter and their offense helped out with four goals.

This was the third straight trip to the 4A Semifinals for the Indians and their first state title appearance in program history.
