Pueblo County Planning Commission votes down proposed Dollar General store

Posted: Updated:

The Pueblo County Planning Commission unanimously voted against allowing Dollar General to build a store in the St. Charles Mesa area of Pueblo County.

Dollar General proposed putting a store at Highway 50 and 29th Lane, drawing outrage from concerned residents at the meeting.

"I'm happy they are keeping it out of our neighborhood a neighborhood that we love," said neighbor Alfonso Maes after it was voted down.

Dollar General Representatives asked to have the decision pushed to another date, but the commission voted against that idea.

"It sounds like I could say literally anything up here and these people wouldn't necessarily change their mind," said Dollar General Representative Griffin Bryant.

Representatives with Dollar General have not yet said it the chain will try to build at another location in the county.
