Penrose-St Francis Health Services is laying off more than 40 employees, including the leader of the St. Francis Medical Center, Mark Hartman.
The hospital announced the layoffs as part of a new staffing model that would affect less than two percent of employees. The layoffs include employees at all levels of the organization, however no doctors have been let go.
This is the first layoff at the hospital in close to decade. The hospital says no services at Penrose or St. Francis Medical Center will be affected.
