KOAA Athlete of the Week: Jack Egan, Cheyenne Mountain Lacrosse

Posted: Updated:

Our KOAA News5 Athlete of the Week is Jack Egan of Cheyenne Mountain boys lacrosse.

The senior captain leads the team in assists and has 26 goals for the Indians.

But the stat that leads the team that doesn't show up on the sheet is Egan's hair.

"The lady at Supercuts was somewhat prepared for it, he said. "Her husband had one, so I would say it's a good experience."

Egan rocks - and I mean rocks - a mullet.

"I went for the Patrick Swayze-esque kind of mullet but I've been told by multiple people that it's more Billy Ray Cyrus."

Everyone on the Indians roster changed their hair in some form or fashion but Egan embraced the "flow."

"I've always looked better with long hair, I would say, I feel less exposed with it," Egan said. "I get the flow-ness coming out of the back for profile issues especially in lacrosse."

The Indians - and their hair - are one game away from the 4A State title game for the 3rd year in a row. This year feels a little different than previous years.

"We've proved our resilience in many steps like beating Valor Christian and our win last Thursday against Thompson Valley and I think we have the confidence going in," he added.  "In my four years in high school, three of the past four years we've made it to the semifinals so going beyond that would be like more than I can ask for and everyone on our team is hoping for it."
