Pueblo D60 calls special board meeting to ratify agreement that ended strike

PUEBLO -

Pueblo District 60 called a special meeting Wednesday morning to ratify the agreement that ended the Pueblo teacher's strike last weekend.

The agreement is the only action item on the agenda, and it was taken of the agenda for the regularly scheduled board meeting for May 22.

The deal teachers and the district agreed to on Saturday provided a 2 percent cost of living adjustment retroactive to January and a 2.5 percent cost of living adjustment starting in September as well as a $50 boost toward health insurance benefits starting then as well.

That deal also granted a $500 payment to paraprofessionals in June to cover pay for the days during the strike as well as a 3.25 percent cost of living adjustment for them.

Superintended Charlotte Macaluso said she trusts the board will support the deal she helped negotiate.

News 5 will be at the meeting, which starts at 8:45 a.m. Wednesday at the district administration building.
