Man arrested in stabbing in Fremont County

Fremont County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to a reported stabbing where the victim was stabbed in the stomach Friday.

According to a release, deputies were dispatched to the Sand Gulch Campground in Canon City after 10:00 p.m. The caller told deputies he had been stabbed in the stomach after an altercation with another man and needed medical attention.

The caller said the suspect fled the scene, according to a release. Upon arrival, the victim was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.

The suspect, later identified as 44-year-old William Donald of Canon City, was located and arrested Saturday, deputies said.

Donald is being held at the Fremont County Jail on a no bond on charges of Attempted Second Degree Murder, First Degree Assault, First Degree Burglary, Child Abuse, and Violation of a Protection Order.

The identity of the victim is not being released at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
