The eruption of the Kilauea Volcano has rocked Hawaii for more than a week causing health and safety hazards across the island state.

Late Friday night, President Trump authorized federal aid to help the state clean up, but experts say the threat to human health isn't going anywhere.

President Trump approved a major disaster declaration for the area and it's expected that  protecting residents over the next 30 days will cost more than $2.9 million.

The White House said federal assistance will be made available to state and local governments.
