Sentence handed down for man convicted in 2017 liquor store shooting

Posted: Updated:
COLORADO SPRINGS -

A man convicted for the murder of a liquor store owner in Colorado Springs in 2017 learned his fate Thursday.

18-year-old Phineas Tyree Daniels is one of four suspects arrested in connection to at least seven crimes over a two-month period in 2017.

On Thursday, he was sentenced to 54 years in prison and five years parole.

Investigators believe Daniels is the person who pulled the trigger in the shooting death of 67-year-old liquor store owner, Donat Herr.

Two juvenile males were also charged in Herr's death. A 13-year-old was sentenced to six-and-a-half years in prison last year. A 16-year-old was also charged in the case but has not been identified.
