Three taken to the hospital after crash west of Rocky Ford in Otero County

Posted: Updated:

Colorado State Patrol said three people were injured in a crash at the intersection of Highway 50 and Highway 71 west of Rocky Ford Thursday.

Troopers said two white 2006 F-350 trucks both hauling trailers were involved in the crash around 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

Troopers said one of the trucks, which was hauling a small travel trailer, was headed north as it crossed Highway 50 from Otero County Road 18 to NB Highway 71. The second truck, which was hauling a flatbed trailer,  was headed westbound in the left through lane of Highway 50.

Troopers said the truck hauling the travel trailer did not yield the right of way and was hit on the left side. The driver of that truck, 66-year-old Sammy Davidson from Staples, Minnesota and the passenger, 65-year-old Dorothy Davidson, were taken to the Arkansas Regional Medical Center. Dorothy Davidson had to be flown to Memorial Central in Colorado Springs for additional treatment.

The driver of the second car, 65-year-old Pueblo man Michael Lofton, was taken to the Arkansas Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Troopers said neither alcohol or drugs are considered factors in the crash.
