Rattlesnake scares Pueblo homeowners in garage

Posted: Updated:

News 5 Viewer Jason shared photos of a rattlesnake he said his wife encountered Wednesday.

Jason told us his wife was pulling into the garage in the Eagle Ranch community when she opened her car door to find an "angry" rattler.

She quickly backed out of the garage and called her husband inside. He said he went out and "promptly dispatched" the snake. He said the snake was about two feet long.

This story is another reminder to watch out for the snakes, especially after two people suffered bites in recent weeks in southern Colorado.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife said rattlesnakes can be legally killed if they pose a threat. CPW said all other snakes are classified as nongame wildlife and protected by law.

Also, beware of dead snakes. They can still be dangerous, they have reflexes and can still bite after they're dead.  and still have dangerous venom.
