Air Force Colonel accused of sexual assault

An Air Force Colonel currently stationed at Peterson Air Force base in Colorado Springs is facing a court martial later this year in connection to sexual assault allegations.

Col. Jason Costello is accused of sexual assault and assault charges in connection to multiple incidents spanning from 2012 to 2017. A woman accused Costello of raping her while she was asleep in 2014 in Rhode Island.

A charge sheet provided by the Air Force also discloses multiple other instances sexual assault, including accusations of him groping a woman over her clothes from September 2012 to August 2014.

The document also details two other assault accusations, one in 2013 where he's accused of hitting someone in the face, and another in Colorado in April 2017 when he's accused of unlawfully grabbing someone's arm, wrist and hand.

Costello graduated from the Air Force Academy in 1995 and also previously served at Fort Carson as well as the Pentagon. He was also in command of the 325th Training Support Squadron at Tyndall Air Force Base in Florida.

His court martial is scheduled to start in October.
