Colorado Springs Police make three arrests in fatal shooting

A shooting victim from last Thursday night has been identified by the El Paso County Coroner's Office.

Colorado Springs Police officers responded to the 100 block of South Academy Boulevard on reports of shots fired after 9 p.m. on May 3. Officers discovered a dead man in an apartment upon arrival, according to police.

Coroners identified the victim as 22-year old Dionte Harris Tuesday. 

The Violent Crimes Unit of CSPD assumed responsibility for the investigation and interviewed multiple witnesses. Police said the investigation has lead to three arrests so far, including 23-year old Cortez Lee-Read and 24-year old Lakela Basfield who were both arrested in Pueblo on May 4.

A third suspect, 22-year old Austin Boyd, was arrested in Colorado Springs the following day. All three suspects are facing First Degree Murder charges, according to police. 

This is an ongoing investigation. Police said this is the 12th homicide in Colorado Springs this year, at this time last year 13 homicides were reported.
