Pueblo D60 announced more schools would reopen Wednesday as the second day of the teacher strike continues.

Centennial, Central, East and South high schools will be open to APEX students (courses offered online at the high schools). Haaff Elementary will also open to all students starting Wednesday.

Pueblo D60's preschool programs will continue to stay open, with the exception of Bessemer and Franklin. Paragon High School's blended learning program will also stay open.

The district will also provide free lunches to students from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the following locations:

  • Baca Elementary School
  • Belmont Elementary School
  • Beulah Heights Elementary School
  • Minnequa Elementary School
  • Morton Elementary School
  • Rawlings Library
  • Pete Jimenez Park
  • Risley International Academy of Innovation (replaces the Lucero Library)

Parents of other schools should continue to watch for further announcements about the status of individual schools.

Local teachers said on Tuesday that the fact some schools are reopening is not a sign they're slowing down their efforts, and they'll continue to strike for as long as it takes.

The Pueblo Education Association initially estimated the strike would last between three and five days. It is unclear if that will hold true or if both sides will even meet for negotiations Tuesday.
