COLORADO SPRINGS -

A packed theater at Discovery Canyon and right at the center of it is Lauren Gale. The senior runner was signing her letter of intent and couldn't be more thrilled with her choice of school.

"It felt really awesome, I'm super, super excited to go to Colorado State. It was so much fun being infront of the crowd and everyone cheering," said Gale.

Gale will run for the Rams next year, putting an exclamation point on a tremendous high school career. But all her success, hasn't come easy.

"She's very resilient, she got hurt last year came back after four state titles. Got hurt, now she's back shooting for another 2 or 3," said Discovery Canyon Track & Field Coach, Adam Felkey.

Sidelined from the spot she loves, Gale had a long road ahead of her.

"It only took four months for me to get back to the track. it should've taken longer, but I wanted to push it," said Gale.

But she was ready to do anything and everything to get back on the track.

"They would make you swim laps and you can't breathe! So that was definitely hard cause I don't swim at all, so being able to breath running is super nice," said Gale.

Back healthy and with a new appreciation for air, there was just one last thing to cement her return.

"Getting my endurance back was the hardest part, he's been kicking our butts for sure. Running a lot of 400 and 300 practices and that helped me get my endurance back," said Gale.

Now she's eyeing more state titles to add to her growing resume.

"Hopefully! we'll have to see, there's a lot of good runners out there for sure so yeah we'll just have to see how it goes," said Gale.
