Career Boost provides training for new career path

Posted: Updated:
COLORADO SPRINGS -

A new study program is giving local students a whole new outlook on life. Career Boost helps students get affordable and fast training to quickly find jobs in the career fields that need it most.

We spoke with one Career Boost student at the PPCC Downtown Campus, who says Career Boost really changed his life and now he feels prepared to take on a career in IT.

23 year-old Josiah Cisneros worked a wide range of jobs from construction to customer service, and like many of us, he wasn't able to afford college. Luckily, Career Boost was a cost effective option that taught him everything from the basics of IT to the best techniques in a job interview. Now he already has his sights set on the future.

"Going through the classes is making me feel more confident in something that I've seen people get master degrees for, and makes me feel better that I can still grow without spending a bunch of money and just getting trapped in student loan debt," said Josiah.

Career Boost is a partnership between the PPCC Workforce Development Division, D11 and the Pikes Peak Workforce Center. Their goal is to quickly train people to get jobs in manufacturing, IT and child development - all careers with a severe labor shortage.

You may qualify for Career Boost! If you're interested and think you're a good candidate for the program log onto careerboostco.org or call 719-502-2404.

News 5 Investigates is looking into a possible cover-up by Colorado Springs police.  We uncovered the department withheld public information about a squatting case we brought you earlier this month.  Chief Investigative Reporter Eric Ross uncovered police did nothing to try and help a grieving mother after squatters invaded her daughter's home just days after she died. Now there are even more questions over whether police botched the case.
