COLORADO SPRINGS -

A cyclist hit by a car at Highway 115 and Star Ranch Road died from their injuries on Tuesday.  Colorado Springs police say 89-year old Ernest Eldridge was turning left from westbound Cheyenne Meadows Road onto southbound Highway 115 when he hit the cyclist.

Police say the victim was crossing the intersection legally on the green light when they were struck. Alcohol, speed, or drugs are not considered factors in the accident, but daylight conditions may have played a part.

The El Paso County Coroner's Office has not released the identity of the cyclist as of yet.

This is the fifth traffic related fatality in Colorado Springs this year, and the first involving a bicyclist. This time last year, there was one traffic death.
