Pueblo VFW helps homeless vets

Posted: Updated:

On Monday, homeless veterans in Pueblo were getting the help they needed.

A mini version of a homeless veterans stand down was held at VFW Post #3641.

Veterans received food, haircuts, blood pressure checks, and warm clothes.

Several organizations were also there providing resources to help vets get off the streets and become self-sufficient.

Steve Kjonaas, Colorado state chief operating officer for the VFW, said, The struggles are wide ranging and tough to live through on a day to day basis, and especially if you have family with you.

According to a report by the federal government, there were close to 1,200 homeless veterans in Colorado in 2016.
