PBR World Champ cross trains with USA Wrestling

COLORADO SPRINGS -

Success breeds success, right? That's what happens when one champion trains with another, not matter the sport. Even Bull Riding.

Professional Bull Riders world champion Jess Lockwood busted off his singlet and headgear for another go'round with USA Wrestling as he prepares for the upcoming 2018 rodeo season.

Lockwood started wrestling at age five, after he started riding bulls. He won a Montana state title at 98 pounds his freshman year but focused on rodeo full time not long after.

He said he still uses the wrestling techniques as an everyday training for bull riding.

"Wrestling is huge in my training," Lockwood said. "Just keeps you training the right muscles for bull riding. To be a great wrestler you have to have great hips and the same with bull riding - so they work into one another drastically."
