Pueblo Police Department honors officers, citizens at annual banquet

Posted: Updated:

On Thursday, several Pueblo police officers and even some citizens received big awards to be proud of.

The department held its annual awards banquet at Pueblo Community College.

It's an event to recognize officers and citizens who have gone above and beyond to help the department and the City of Pueblo.

Some of the awards given included the Medal of Valor, the Lifesaving Award, and the Chief's Award of Merit.

Sergeant Dennis Furbush said, "It's an honor. It's a lot of work and it's a lot of behind the scenes work, but I think it's made an impact with our recruits so I'm happy to receive the honor. It's a whole team of people that have done the work."

Sergeant Furbush received the Chief's Award of Merit for his work in improving the department's Police Training Officer program.
