Sheriff: 3 people dead in shooting at New Mexico high school

Authorities say three people are dead following a shooting at Aztec High School in Aztec, New Mexico.

The shooting was Thursday morning. San Juan County Sheriff Ken Christesen told reporters that the three are believed to be students. The shooter is also dead. New Mexico State Police have said the suspected shooter is among the three dead. 

They have not released any details about the shooter, law enforcement has said the other two victims are students.

  

Authorities said they had cleared all the buildings at the school and that students were boarding buses to another location where they could be reunited with their parents.
  
Other schools in the area also were locked down as a precaution. Authorities say it could be a few hours before the lockdowns are lifted.

Federal agents and state police are investigating.
  
The school is in the Four Corners region and is near the Navajo Nation.
