No water in Walsenburg for most of Wednesday due to repairs

Posted: Updated:
WALSENBURG -

The city of Walsenburg says the city's water will be shut off for 12 hours Wednesday, from 4:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The city sent a letter to residents saying the water services will be off due to an upgrade in the current water system.

After two failed overnight contingency plans, Public Works director Dave Harriman said they had no choice but to temporarily shut off the city's water services.

The city is supposed to give 24-72 hours notice on a project like this.  But Harriman said the contractor indicated if they did that, they might end up paying double the price.

Huerfano Re-1 Schools (Walsenbug and Gardner) will be closed as well.

The city says the water should be back on by 5:00 p.m., Wednesday.

There will be updates every two hours on the City of Walsenburg website and World Journal Facebook page.

For questions or more information between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. please call the Utility Office at 719-735-1240.

For inquiries after 4:00 p.m. please call Public Works Director David Harriman at 719-989-0437.

Here is the letter that was sent to residents:
