District 20 board of directors recount reveals winner

Posted: Updated:
COLORADO SPRINGS -

The three-person race for District 20's board of directors seat was initially too close to call, but the county announced the third winner Thursday following a recount.

The Clerk and Recorder's Elections Department announced the results from a recount Thursday confirming Doug Lundberg won the race over William Temby after both received 19.5 percent of the vote on election night.

A review of the ballots found Lundberg won by a margin of 0.193 percent, slightly larger than the previous margin of 0.164. On election night, Lundberg received 10,351 votes to Temby's 10,333 votes for the final school board seat.

The county said Lundberg received more votes due to a "more robust review of ballots that had been adjudicated for overvotes and undervotes."

The recount began Monday.
