Small Business Saturday sets record sales

Posted: Updated:
COLORADO SPRINGS -

Small Business Saturday was a success for local businesses. For most small business owners it's a much bigger day than Black Friday.

News 5 spoke with several shop owners in Manitou, Old Colorado City and downtown Colorado Springs and almost all said this was their record year in sales. This year's sales even topped last year's record setting event.

Some shops said they were up a whopping 15 percent from the previous Small Business Saturday.

"Small business saturday was very, very busy, we had a record day," said Rebecca Spears, owner of Glass Blowers of Manitou.

"We saw people with bags, which is what we want to see, bags full of stuff bought in Manitou," said Juanita Canzoneri, Marketing Manager of Commonwheel.

Shop owners were pleased that all of their hard work throughout the year has paid off.

"It feels fantastic, it's what we work all year for and it feels good that people are enjoying themselves and the day," said Sam Eppley, Owner of Sparrow Hawk Cookware.

Shop owners are confident and hopeful that next year's Small Business Saturday will be even bigger than this one.
