Despite the warm weather, Acacia Park ice skating rink keeps its cool

Posted: Updated:
COLORADO SPRINGS -

With all of the warm weather that we've been experiencing, it doesn't much feel like ice skating weather.

If you're wondering how our above normal temperatures are affecting the ice rink in Acacia Park, the city says that it's been no problem at all. The coolers are working a little overtime right now, but everything is fine. Skaters coming to the park are finding the conditions to be perfect.

Christina Malacara, a recent visitor, tells News 5 that she enjoys the temperatures in the 50's. She says that as long as the nights are cold enough to keep the ice frozen, the sunshine is beautiful during the day.

The ice rink will continue to operate at its scheduled hours through January 15th. It's expected that around fifteen thousand people will take advantage of the downtown ice rink this season.
