Falcon Stadium to host CHSAA 3A state title game

Posted: Updated:
COLORADO SPRINGS -

Air Force football season is over but Falcon Stadium will host one more football game before they close for 2017.

Palmer Ridge and Erie will play the 3A state championship football game at Falcon Stadium, Saturday December 2nd. Kick of set for 1pm.

As the highest seed in the bracket, Palmer Ridge was the hist team but had to find a place for the game to be played as their stadium does not fulfill CHSAA attendance requirements for the 3A class. Don Breese Stadium at Lewis-Palmer High School (where Palmer Ridge plays their home games) seats roughly 2,500 - half of the requirement.

Palmer Ridge Athletic Director Lance McCorkle said the football team's booster club covered the cost to rent the facility for Saturday's game. Without the financial help, the game would have to find another place to play in or around Colorado Springs, likely District 20 Stadium, which hosted the 2016 3A title game ,or Garry Berry Stadium in District 11.

Palmer Ridge enters the game at 12-0, beating Palisade 28-14 in the semifinals last Saturday.
