Colorado Springs minister accused of impregnating teen

Posted: Updated:
COLORADO SPRINGS -

The Colorado Springs minister accused of sexual assault on a child is accused of impregnating a 14-year-old girl.

He was advised of the charges against him on Friday and is being held on $50,000 bond. He will be in court again on December 4th at 8:30 a.m.

Newly released court documents show 22-year-old Romello Leach admitted to his ex-wife in a phone conversation that he had sex with the teen and was the father of her child.

Read the documents here.

The investigation into Leach began in May 2017, when a staff member of a Colorado Springs pregnancy center and the teen's mother reached out to the El Paso County Sheriff's Office, after the teen admitted to them that she was pregnant. The teen also told them the father was a friend from their church, identified as Leach.

It's unclear when the recorded conversation with his ex wife occurred, however, in the call he also allegedly told her that he made the worst mistake and that it was at a horrible time.

On November 21, the court documents show that Leach admitted in another recorded phone call, this time with the victim, that he was the father of her child and that he knew his behavior was wrong; saying he was "full of lust" at the time.

Leach is being charged with sexual assault on a child with a pattern of abuse. The relationship allegedly started some time in 2016 when she was 14 years old. The victim has since had her child and is now 15 years old according to court documents.

The Sheriff's Office says, Leach is associated with several churches who regularly meet at the Satellite Hotel at 411 Lakewood Circle in Colorado Springs. They also say he has had access to an unknown number of children/teens.

If anyone has been been victimized by him or knows of someone and hasn't reported it please contact the Sheriff's Office at (719) 520-6666.
