Man armed with BB gun arrested at Colorado Springs movie theater

Posted: Updated:
COLORADO SPRINGS -

Colorado Springs Police arrested the man who allegedly threatened to shoot people at the Walmart on Razorback Road Monday night.

19-year-old Jody Romero was taken into custody shortly before he could enter the AMC 13 movie theater.

Just before 9 p.m. officers received multiple calls about a man carrying a rifle near the store. Witnesses reported the man said he "was going to shoot people."

The store was put on a temporary lock down, and shortly after, the man crossed the street and walked into the Chapel Hills Mall.

Police discovered Romero was carrying an unloaded BB gun, that from a distance looked like a real firearm.

No one was injured, and no shots were fired.

Romero is being held on a $2,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday. CSPD has not released what charges he is facing.
