The El Paso County Coroner released the identity of the 40-year-old man and the 6-year-old boy who were killed during a fire at a home in the 700 block of East Cucharras St. Friday afternoon.

Authorities said Devyn Johnson, 6, and Michael Ashley, 40, both died in the fire. A 2-year-old child was flown to Denver for emergency treatment and was transported in critical condition. That child's identity has not yet been released.

At the time of the fire, police would not say how the victims knew each other.

CSPD has completed the preliminary criminal investigation and found no criminal conduct.

According to the Colorado Springs Fire Department, firefighters were dispatched to the area around 2 p.m. for a possible structure fire.

One half the duplex had smoke down to the floor, as first responders found a small fire in the residence. CSFD said the other half of the duplex did not sustain any damages from the fire.

CSFD is now the lead on the investigation.
