Local WWII veteran celebrates 100th birthday

COLORADO SPRINGS -

The historic Veterans Day may have passed, but a local vet is finishing off his weekend with a 100th birthday. Earl Depner is a retired Air Force Colonel reconnaissance from the Korean war.

Depner was also a fighter pilot flying P-51 fighter-bombers during World War II. He served in the Air Force from 1942 to 1965.

Depner turned 100 on Sunday, and still plays an active part in the community.

He is part of the parish of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Monument. A celebratory event is was to honor him, and celebrate the milestone birthday.
