Fundraiser held to raise money for suicide prevention in Colorado Springs

Posted: Updated:

A special fundraiser was in Colorado Springs Saturday, aimed at preventing teen suicide. Overdrive Raceway hosted the fundraiser, in hopes to help teens who may be considering suicide get the help they need.

Overdrive Raceway donated all the funds from the morning to the cause, and were supported by law enforcement from all across El Paso County. Participants at the event got to race a police officer, legally that is.

For those who didn't want to race they could contribute by donating cash to the cause.

"This is to help support raising some funds for Mayfield Counseling. They're raising some money so they can get some treatments together for youth in our community," said El Paso County Sheriff Bill Elder.

Perkins Motors was one of several businesses that matched up to $10,000 in funds for the cause. All money raised goes to the non-profit organization Mayfield Counseling, who's working to prevent teen suicide in El Paso County.
