Minor crashes into front of restaurant in Colorado Springs

Posted: Updated:
COLORADO SPRINGS -

Customers were present in the restaurant when a car crashed into Ivy's Chinese Cafe Saturday afternoon. The incident happened off Voyager Parkway, where a car crashed through the front doors of the restaurant.

The Colorado Springs Fire Department says, there were seven or eight customers along with several staff members inside at the time of the crash. No injuries have been reported.

Police would not release any details about what led up to the crash. But according to those at the scene, a minor was driving with her dad in the passenger seat, when the car crashed into the front of the restaurant.

The owner of the restaurant says the timing was lucky since they were at the end of a very busy lunch rush.

"The speed was very fast.  I said, 'oh my gosh.'  It was crazy.  My husband said, 'you need to run!'  And I went to hide.  I was in a lucky spot to survive.  My customers were sitting on the left and right.  They are fine--Just some table damage," said Cafe owner Amy Xu.

Fire Officials said the structure is still intact, but the restaurant will have to stay closed for at least two weeks for repairs.
