Veteran success stories highlighted

Posted: Updated:
COLORADO SPRINGS -

A special program taking place in Colorado Springs Thursday night aimed at veterans ahead of the weekend holiday.

Several speakers attended the program at Mt. Carmel Veterans Service Center for a Storytellers Program. In 2012, the Got Your Six program was launched to change negative and inaccurate perceptions of Veterans.

The storytellers program has provided a "TED Talk" like platform for more than 50 veterans from different backgrounds with different experiences to share their stories and humanize their experiences.

The program came to Colorado Springs in honor of Veterans Day to highlight the community's local veteran success stories.

The list of tonight's speakers included; Bob McLaughlin, U.S. Army Retired and COO of Mt. Carmel Veterans Service Center, James Brown, U.S. Air Force Veteran, from KKTV, Jack Gloriod, U. S. Army Retired, from Berkshire Hathaway, Steve Best, U.S. Army Retired and Executive Director at the Department of Veterans Affairs, Michael Borrelli, U. S. Army Retired and VP of Operations for Doss Aviation, and Terrence McWilliams, U. S. Army Retired and Sr. VP of Military Affairs for the El Pomar Foundation.
