Weather closures and delays

Posted: Updated:

Several school districts and churches around Southern Colorado have decided to start later due to snowy and icy conditions on the roads.

The main danger on the roadways Wednesday mornings is icy and damp spots left over from Tuesday night's snow. Accumulation's from last night's storm ranged from about an inch around Colorado Springs from one to three inches in Pueblo with the north side of the steel city seeing the most accumulation. Penrose saw four to five inches.

The snow will stick around in the grass during the morning, but afternoon temperatures are expected to rise above freezing in the afternoon, which should help melt a lot of it.

Southern Colorado should see mostly cloudy skies through the morning and into the afternoon with clearing expected mainly towards the mid to late afternoon. Highs won't move much today with Colorado Springs warming to the upper 40s and Pueblo right near 50. Overnight we're going to see another very chilly night with lows falling into the upper 20s under partly cloudy skies. Thursday looks slightly warmer with high level clouds and temperatures in the low 50s through most of the area.
