The St. Thomas More Hospital wants to address the number of people that are diabetic and prediabetic in the state. According to the hospital 410,000 people have diabetes in Colorado, and 1.5 million have prediabetes.

This is in a continuing effort to educate the public on this epidemic, St. Thomas More Hospital will host their annual management seminar on Tuesday, Nov. 14. The theme of the event is "The heart of Diabetes" and will feature keynote speaker, cardiologist Dr. David Albrecht.

Dr. Albrecht will address cardiac health in relation to diabetes and what those with diabetes can do to improve their heart health. The free event offers education on diabetic services, meal prep, fitness and nutrition.

Breakfast will be served as the hospital's chef Rachael Swett, demonstrates healthy cooking techniques and nutritious food options. The event will end with giveaways and a number of door prizes.

The event is located at 3000 E Main St at the E-Free Church in Canon City, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 14.
