New #MyMoment campaign targets doping in elite athletics

Posted: Updated:
COLORADO SPRINGS -

The start of the Winter Olympics is approaching quickly. Leading up to the games there is a multi-national campaign ramping up to bring attention to the issue of doping. It is called #MyMoment

The United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) is one of the leading groups behind the campaign. There are seven countries involved in the message.  The faces and voices from the main video message are from Olympic and Paralympic athletes. Bi-athlete, Lowell Bailey said, "It only took 19 seconds for my moment to be stolen by doping."

Doping agencies work to catch cheaters, but there is another important part of the mission emphasized by the campaign. "To say hey, fair play matter and there are victims when [others] cheat and get away with it, and it can dramatically change an individual's life," said USADA, CEO, Travis Tygart.

The message is spreading with a #MyMoment website.  The same hashtag works for the campaign’s Facebook and Twitter sites.
