A milestone 100th birthday party was celebrated at Penrose-St. Francis Hospital North in Colorado Springs, Monday. The guest of honor has worked at the hospital for almost 25 years.
But, Monday she and a few others came together in celebration of the other 75 years of her life. Oral Allen is 100 years young, she is originally from Iowa, grew up in Illinois and came to Colorado for her oldest son's health.
She says what keeps her going are friends, family and her job. Allen is a happy great, great grandmother.
''I don't mean to preach or anything, but I don't think God put me on this earth just to take up space ...so I work.''
Allen says she'll continue to work as long as the hospital will have her.

A Colorado woman is facing a $500 fine for a free apple that was given to her on a Delta flight. Crystal Tadlock was on her way home from Paris, when she said she was given an apple from a flight attendant. "The violation is for one apple," said Tadlock.
Colorado Springs Police have confirmed one person is dead following a shooting in the 5100 block of Airport Road Sunday night. Police said one person has died, and another has been transported to a local hospital with unknown injuries.
An investigation is underway after a man who was lying on a highway in southwest Colorado was run over and killed. Capt. Adrian Driscoll with the Colorado State Patrol tells The Durango Herald that 43-year-old Mark Deuel was lying in the middle of U.S. Highway 160 when he was struck early Saturday morning.
