Army and Air Force take it to the gridiron Saturday

COLORADO SPRINGS -

A fierce rivalry on the gridiron will face off tomorrow between the Army and the Air Force. This is a big deal around town even famed American five-star general Douglas MacArthur understands the intensity between this competition.

"Upon the fields of friendly strife are the seeds that upon other fields, on other days, will bear the fruits of victory," said MacArthur. He also stresses the importance of team sports in teaching individuals about strength, limitations, achieving a common goal and respecting one another including opponents.

“Athletics are such an important part of our development as leaders,” said Lt. Gen. Robert L. Caslen Jr., superintendent of the U.S. Military Academy.  “When General MacArthur required ‘every cadet an athlete’ he knew that athletics develops certain attributes important for future leaders.” 

A dinner was held Friday with discussions about all the highlights the weekend will bring surrounding the big game. Former football coach Fisher DeBerry spoke at the dinner, many others were in attendance including Mayor Suthers. 

As game day approaches the Army and Air Force cadets will face one another in competition, however are on the same team in working together fighting for America's freedom.

Tailgating for the event will begin at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, the game will start at 1:30 p.m. at Falcon Stadium.

    The El Paso County Sheriff's Office Special Victims Unit is looking for victims who were assaulted by a local minister.   An investigation began in May 2017, the suspect was licensed minister 22-year old Romello Leach. Leach was arrested on Nov 22, he was booked into the Criminal Justice Center Jail on multiple felony counts of Sexual Assault on a Child.
