Colorado Springs roads receive 242 newly paved lane miles

COLORADO SPRINGS -

Ballot 2C is wrapping up it's second season, leaving drivers with a total of 242-newly paved roads in Colorado Springs.

The city says crews are completing the final six roadways to receive 2C paving as the second year of the program comes to a close Nov 15, weather dependent.

“Despite weather impacts, crews paved all scheduled lane miles, plus an additional 15 lane miles that were added onto this year’s schedule,” said Mayor John Suthers. “Progress continues as additional funding for 2C paving allows our public works department to dedicate Pikes Peak Rural Transportation Authority and general fund resources towards much needed roadway maintenance furthering our efforts to extend the life of many of our roads.”

The effort is funded through a temporary five-year $0.62 sales tax approved by Colorado Springs voters in November 2015, solely for roadway repairs.
