The non-profit organization 'Incline Friends' has announced the opening of the Manitou Springs Incline for Dec. 1, weather dependent. The 'Incline Friends' is a non-profit organization dedicated to making the Incline sustainable and open to the public.
The Timberline Landscaping Company has been working since late August in completing the third phase of construction on the trail. The $2 million project was started to "improve safety, enhance user experience, long term sustainability and increased accessibility."
Workers have been hard at work in replacing damaged retaining walls, adding and replacing drains, stabilizing parts of the slope around the trail, anchoring railroad ties, and cleaning up rebar and debris.
So for those of you itching to hike the Incline, just hang on a little longer. But, El Paso County Search and Rescue have been reminding the public to read the rules before making the ascent.
