Daylong summit to address mental health

COLORADO SPRINGS -

New Life Church is hosting a full day summit to address mental health issues in the Colorado Springs Community.

The Mental Health Summit will be hosted at the north location of New Life Church, 11025 Voyager Parkway on Saturday, November 4th, starting at 8:40 a.m. The cost of registration is $39.99 for adults and $19.99 for students. You can register online by clicking here.

This day long event will feature as the keynote speaker Kay Warren, who along with her husband Rick lost their adult son to suicide in 2013. Rick Warren is a Pastor and author of the book, The Purpose-Driven Life. Breakout sessions will include Dr. Mark Mayfield, Dr. Eric Sandras, and Kristine Tammilow.

Organizers said the purpose of the summit is to create a place where those who may be struggling with mental illness as well as educators, parents, business leaders, and concerned friends can come together and learn how to move forward. The summit will wrap up by 5:30 p.m.

    A Colorado woman is facing a $500 fine for a free apple that was given to her on a Delta flight. Crystal Tadlock was on her way home from Paris, when she said she was given an apple from a flight attendant. "The violation is for one apple," said Tadlock.

    Colorado Springs Police have confirmed one person is dead following a shooting in the 5100 block of Airport Road Sunday night. Police said one person has died, and another has been transported to a local hospital with unknown injuries.
