Classes canceled at D2's Stratmoor Hills Elementary due to gun scare

Posted: Updated:

A report of a woman seen heading into District 2's Stratmoor Hills Elementary lead to a cancellation of classes Thursday.

The El Paso County Sheriff's Office said a bus monitor reported possibly seeing a woman with a gun.

Some of the students who were inside the school were told to shelter in place while deputies investigated the incident. Classrooms closer to the site of the report were able to be evacuated from the building.

Deputies preformed a sweep of the school and were unable to find any threat to students or anyone matching the original report.

Parents were told to meet their students at nearby Fox Meadow school to pick them up for the day.

The cancellation was reported as a precautionary measure.
