Posted: Updated:

Colorado State Patrol said a 28-year-old man was killed in a single-vehicle crash about five miles east of Salida on westbound Highway 50 early Wednesday morning.

Troopers said Brandon Todd, 28, from Nathrop Colorado was killed when he was ejected from his Dodge SUV after it rolled down an embankment and into the Arkansas river.

Authorities said Todd was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A woman who was a passenger in the car was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Troopers said alcohol and drugs are not considered factors in the crash.
