Colorado Children's Hospital celebrates Halloween with patients

Posted: Updated:

The Children's Hospital Colorado in Colorado Springs was in the Halloween spirit Tuesday allowing patients to become a part of the construction team in the building of the new facility. The construction for the hospital started six months ago as the new inpatient hospital has been in the works.

Patients who had appointments at the Children's Colorado outpatient location, across the street from the construction, got to join in on the fun. Kids with appointments at the Outpatient Specialty and Urgent Care clinic at Briargate got some treats from GE Johnson Construction Company.

GE Johnson Construction Company is building the new Children's Hospital providing the kids with fun activities and gift bags. A gift bag filled with Halloween treats and construction hats put smiles on kids faces as they could join the team members dressed as construction workers as well.

“Nobody wants to have to spend Halloween at the doctors office, so having treats like this really mean a lot to our kids,” said Hannah Egger, child life specialist for Children’s Colorado.

The new Children's Hospital Colorado-Colorado Springs will be located across the street on the Memorial North campus. The new hospital will be part of the nationally recognized Children's Hospital Colorado system, specializing in treating kids and kids only.

The hospital is scheduled to open in April of 2019.
