State Patrol identifies driver killed in Monday crash on I-25

Posted: Updated:
EL PASO COUNTY -

Colorado State Patrol identified the person killed on I-25 early Monday morning as 41-year-old Steven Wade from Denver.

Troopers said weather and excessive speed for the conditions may have contributed the crash, which happened a little after 5 a.m. Monday.

Authorities said Wade was driving his 1996 Honda Accord on SB I-25 at milemarker 162 when he drove off the side of the road and rolled twice.

Troopers said he was not wearing his seat belt. Troopers said he hit a road sign and was ejected from his car.

According to CSP, there was rain and snow falling in the area at the time of the crash, and Wade may have been driving too fast for the conditions.
