State Patrol releases new details in fatal crash on I-25

Posted: Updated:
EL PASO COUNTY -

Colorado State Patrol said weather and excessive speed for the conditions may have contributed to a fatal crash on I-25 early Monday morning.

Troopers said a man was driving a 1996 Honda Accord a little after 5 a.m. Monday on southbound I-25 at milemarker 162 when he went off the side of the road and rolled twice.

Authorities said the driver was not wearing his seat belt. Troopers said he hit a road sign and was ejected.

They have not yet released the identity of the driver.

Troopers said there was rain and snow falling in the area at the time of the crash and he may have been driving too fast for the conditions.
