Hooked on high school bass fishing

Posted: Updated:

Southern Colorado bass fishers both young and old met at Pueblo Reservoir Sunday to take part in the annual Colorado High School State Bass Fishing Championship.

54 participants from across the state took part, competing in teams of two on 27 different boats. For the group, it was a spike in attendance and a sign that the sport is growing in the Centennial State.

"This is our biggest year yet, it's our 9th for the tournament out here and we have 27 boats today," said Tournament Director, Sam Heckman.

Teams from Cheyenne Mountain, Coronado, Pueblo West and Pueblo County made up the list of Southern Colorado anglers. Cheyenne Mountain won the tournament with Pueblo West taking second and third.
